Através de um sessão de vidência numa bola de cristal, os dois estabeleceram comunicação com supostos anjos, que lhes passaram um tipo de linguagem nativa dessas entidades. Junto passaram um alfabeto de 21 letras ( um verdadeiro idioma com regras próprias de gramática), 19 chaves (invocações) e conhecimentos ocultos. Segundo a história, as palavras possuem um poder tão grande ao serem pronunciadas, que foram passadas de trás para frente.
Estes "anjos Enochianos" diziam estar ensinando a mesma ciência repassada a Enoch, personagem bíblico do Antigo Testamento.
Aleister Crowley usou tal sistema na concepção do Liber 418, A Visão e a Voz, para a invocação dos 30 AEthyrs (Ares) com a 19ª chave,
