A bioenergia é genéricamente conhecida como prana, que são aquelas partículas luminosas em constante movimento que é possível de se enxergar em dias com bastante sol. O prana é a energia que alimenta o campo energético de todos os seres vivos, de forma que uma pessoa que tenha uma respiração profunda, exclusivamente nasal, consciente e ritmada (atributos do pránáyáma), certamente disporá de uma maior quantidade de bioenergia e poderá canalizá-la para o fim desejado.&lt;br /&gt;

Além da quantidade energética que o pránáyáma proporciona, fora uma maior oxigenação do sangue e do cérebro, o pránáyáma ainda controla o campo emocional. Quando uma pessoa fica nervosa, observa-se uma alteração em seu ritmo cardio-respiratório, sua respiração torna-se ofegante, seus batimentos cardíacos aceleram e isso altera o sistema nervoso central, libera adrenalina e daí vem um ciclo vicioso que pode resultar num problema cardíaco posteriormente. No entanto, quando se tem domínio da respiração, quando se coloca uma respiração profunda, lenta, com ritmo a ser respeitado, o ritmo respiratório diminui, os batimentos cardíacos acompanham, o sistema nervoso também acompanha e libera-se então, endorfina, em função da hiperoxigenação do cérebro e conseqüente estabilidade psico-somática, tendo como resultado final um perfeito controle do campo emocional.&lt;br /&gt;

Um breve pránáyáma muito simples que qualquer pessoa pode executar: sente-se em qualquer posição confortável, se possível com as pernas cruzadas, coluna ereta e cabeça no prolongamento da coluna. Pouse as mãos sobre os joelhos e una os polegares aos indicadores em Jñána mudrá, com as palmas voltadas para cima se for dia ou voltadas para baixo se for noite. Feche os olhos e visualize o prana, partículas luminosas na cor dourada ao seu redor. Faça uma inspiração completa, preenchendo primeiro a parte baixa dos pulmões (abdominal), depois a parte média (toráxica) e por último a parte alta (peitoral). Retenha com ar nos pulmões enquanto for confortável e expire, soltando o ar primeiro pela parte alta, depois a média e por último a baixa. Este é o Rája Pránáyáma. Acrescente as visualizações: ao inspirar, visualize que este prána penetra pelas suas narinas, percorre os condutos respiratórios até chegar aos pulmões; quando reter com o ar, visualize que essa energia agora se espalha por todo seu corpo e é absorvida por todas as suas células; ao expirar, visualize que o espaço vital ao redor do seu corpo se expande cada vez mais numa luminosidade dourada. &lt;br /&gt;
